ChatGPT Prompts for Consultant Slide Outlines
Also searched as: ChatGPT prompts for slide outlines
- Who it is for
- Consultants and analysts who need to turn notes and findings into a clear deck storyline before building slides.
- Outcome
- A one-line storyline, a slide-by-slide outline with action titles, and a list of the evidence each slide still needs.
Step-by-step prompts
Paste each step into the same chat so the model keeps the earlier context. Then edit before you send.
Step 1
Set up the deck
You're helping me outline a presentation. Use only the findings I give you. Don't add numbers, sources, client names or examples I didn't supply; if a slide needs evidence I haven't given, write [EVIDENCE NEEDED: what]. Audience: [who will see it] Goal: [what you want them to decide or understand] Length: [number of slides] Findings and notes: [paste]
Step 2
Find the storyline
Write the main message of the deck in one sentence. Then give 3–4 supporting points, each backed by the findings I gave you.
Step 3
Outline the slides
Turn the storyline into a slide-by-slide outline. For each slide: Number | Action title (a full sentence stating the point) | Key content (bullets) | Evidence (from my findings, or [EVIDENCE NEEDED]).
Step 4
Pressure-test it
Read the outline as a skeptical [audience]. List the three questions they're most likely to ask, and say which slide answers each, or that none does.
Step 5 · optional
Executive summary slide
Write the executive summary slide: the main message, the supporting points, and the decision or next step you're asking for, in under 80 words.
Example of good output
EXAMPLE ONLY. Illustrative and fictional; not real model output.
| # | Action title | Evidence |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | "Most delays start at the approval step" | [EVIDENCE NEEDED: approval times from the process review] |
| 2 | "Merging two approval steps is the fastest fix" | Workshop notes, item 3 |
Tips and pitfalls
- Write action titles. A slide title that states the point makes the deck readable from the titles alone.
- Keep the evidence gaps. [EVIDENCE NEEDED] markers are your to-do list, not something to fill with guesses.
- Protect client data. Only paste client information if your engagement terms and AI tool policy allow it.
- Outline before designing. Fixing the storyline is much faster before the slides are built.
Works with
These are plain-text prompts written for general chat assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini. Paste each step into the same chat so the assistant keeps the earlier context. PromptsByRole has not tested this playbook with any model, so check every draft before you use it.

What if my notes are messy?
Paste them as they are, and in Step 2 ask which findings are unclear before it writes the storyline.
Can I use this for internal updates?
Yes. Change the audience and goal in Step 1.
